Sample B-Roll

This is a sample of a B-roll used on TV. (The actual b-roll submitted to the production department would have color bars and a countdown at the head of the tape.)

First, the Home Shopping Channels are a live show. Use a b-roll as a last resort.

Some guidelines:

1. Shows a demonstration or part of a demonstration that cannot be executed effectively live.
2. Does not contain text or graphics
3. Reflects the style and brand of the channel
4. Is 30 - 45 seconds in length
5. Highlights the most important points first
6. No audio

Videos that contains graphics, have poor acting, show a demonstration that you're doing live, or have an infomercial style to it, will be rejected.

Further, the home shopping channels will generally not accept video that contains scrolls, text graphics, taped testimonials, or "quad" screen footage (4 different scenes showing on one screen). Look to submit Beta SP or Digital Beta tapes. Tapes mastered on lower quality mediums such as VHS then submitted on Beta will not be accepted.
